When Art Meets Acting: New After-School Workshops Launch

I’m excited to share that I’ll be leading the art strand of a new project called ‘When Art Meets Acting’, a series of workshops in drama, filming and art running after school hours.

St Margaret College is running the initiative in collaboration with Cottonera Community Service, Agenzija Appoġġ, Aċċess Community Centre and the NGO Tgħanniqa. The project gives young people aged 12 to 16 the chance to develop their skills in an artistic medium alongside established young artists, with the aim of nurturing creativity and self-expression.

For my part, I’ll be guiding students through still life drawing, working from real objects and building up towards a final creative composition of their own.

Sessions take place every Tuesday from 3 to 4.30 p.m. at the Boys Secondary School, Fortini, Vittoriosa, Participants will start with teaser sessions across all three mediums, before choosing their focus area in January. The drama and filming groups will go on to produce a short film, while the art group will put together an exhibition of their work.

A big thank you to Simon Schembri for inviting me to be part of this project, I can’t wait to get started and see what the students create.
