Tonio Fenech, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, recently announced a wonderful project in collaboration with MCAST, bringing over 600 pieces of art to be permanently displayed throughout Mater Dei Hospital. These works, created by MCAST students and lecturers, cover a rich variety of subjects, from paintings inspired by Maltese culture to abstract works and landscapes.
During the inauguration of this project, I was invited to speak about my experience creating permanent works for Mater Dei. It was truly an honour to have my art displayed alongside the work of so many talented friends and colleagues within such a state of the art hospital.
It’s my hope that these paintings will bring a sense of comfort and healing to every patient who walks through these halls. Art has a unique way of touching people during difficult times, and I believe it’s so important that we continue working hard to promote art and use it as a means of helping others feel better, even in the smallest way.
The artworks can now be found across different blocks throughout the hospital, with every piece individually signed by its artist.
