I will be participating in Sculptura, a curated exhibition bringing together 33 sculptures generously donated by 32 artists in support of The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. This collection reflects the incredible range and depth of sculptural practice today, spanning free-standing works, in-the-round pieces, and hanging reliefs that transform the exhibition space into a true dialogue between form and material.
The works on display move fluidly across genres, from the figurative to the abstract and even the ephemeral, incorporating unexpected elements such as giant popcorn, balloons, busts, masks, and bones. Thematically, the exhibition is just as wide-reaching, with artists exploring everything from religious and mythological narratives to personal phobias and pressing contemporary issues. Together, these pieces offer visitors a rich and thought-provoking journey through what sculpture can be and what it can say.
Among the works featured is my own piece, Seahorse 2.0, which reimagines the seahorse through a geometric lens. The sculpture plays with contrast, pairing clean, deliberate curves against sections left intentionally unfinished. This tension invites viewers to see not just the final form, but the process behind it, the layers of decision-making and construction that shape a sculpture from concept to completion.
Beyond its artistic merit, Sculptura carries real purpose. Every piece has been donated in support of a cause that touches many lives across Malta, making this exhibition as meaningful as it is visually compelling.
