On the 23rd and 24th of May, Ta’Qali came alive with a truly memorable event. This year I had the pleasure of exhibiting two mixed media installations: a piece entitled Iqum fuq saqajh, and Save, a dramatic and emotive tree that seemed to reach out and demand attention from everyone who passed.
The art square itself, Wine Art & Jazz, drew a wonderfully diverse crowd of all ages, all wrapped up in a romantic atmosphere of smooth jazz melodies and artists creating live on site. There is something special about watching a piece take shape in real time, and the energy around the square reflected that.
What struck me most was seeing so many visitors stop to photograph my installations. It was a genuine and heartwarming sign of how much people connected with the work. The heat did make it a challenge for some to linger as long as they might have liked, but despite the sun, the event was truly one of a kind.
None of this would have been possible without the wonderful people who supported me along the way. My heartfelt thanks go to those who helped me on site with the finishing touches, to Reuben Spiteri and Desmond Vella from Exit Events and Tribali Music for organizing such a beautiful event, to Mr. Matthew Polidano for arranging transportation of my works, and to Ruth Curmi for her invaluable support throughout.
