The sea has shaped Stiefnu’s work since childhood, when he accompanied his father on fishing boats around Malta’s waters, experiences that continue to inform his creative vision.

In 2007, he won a scholarship to Sciacca, Sicily, after his design was named the top ceramic creation in the Interreg IIIA MedPot Project, studying under the late Cosimo Barna, who refined his marine motifs, especially fish and prawns. Prawns, shrimp, and sea creatures remain central to his paintings and sculptures.
