I’m excited to share that PN invited me to take part in the 5th Rotta Ta’ L-Arti Collective Exhibition, held for the fifth consecutive year as part of the Independence feast celebrations. Being asked to exhibit alongside so many talented artists was truly an honour, and it made this year’s show one I’ll never forget.
This edition brought together an incredible 165 artists showcasing up to 360 pieces of work. Walking through the exhibition, visitors had the rare chance to admire paintings by Maltese artists who have passed away over the years, standing side by side with pieces from established names and exciting young talents. It was a beautiful reminder of how art connects generations.
Dr Lawrence Gonzi officially opened the exhibition on Friday 10th September 2009, under this year’s theme “Vision 2015.” As always, PN’s aim with this exhibition is to create space for emerging talent while bridging the older generation of artists with those working today, a mix that gives the whole event such a rich and dynamic energy.
For my part, I was proud to present a mixed media sculpture titled The Rape of Lucrece, along with two mixed media paintings on canvas, ‘Ma tistax tipparkja, Gahan’ and ‘Metallteile.’ Being part of such a diverse and meaningful collective exhibition, and having my work shown alongside so many gifted artists, was an experience I’ll carry with me for a long time.
